Health Tip: Use Hand Sanitizer Properly

(HealthDay News) -- A portable hand sanitizer is convenient and can play an important role in preventing the spread of germs. But for a hand sanitizer to be effective, it must be used correctly, says Rush University Medical Center.

The school encourages you to:

  1. Read the product label to ensure you are using the right amount.
  2. Rub it all over the surfaces of your hands until they are dry.
  3. Avoid wiping or washing your hands after applying.

Always clean your hands with soap and water if they are visibly dirty or greasy.
