Joint Replacement

Make an Appointment

The cumulative effects of sports, aging, arthritis and traumatic injury can take their toll on a body’s joints, including our hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows and wrists. The goal of Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta physicians is to help you reduce joint pain and restore function to improve mobility and quality of life.

Non-surgical treatment options for total joint pain and stiffness can include physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and joint injections. If damage is more severe or as non-surgical procedures become less effective, techniques such as minimally invasive arthroscopy may be used to evaluate and address some joint damage issues. Joint resurfacing and reconstruction techniques may also provide appropriate treatment options.

Total joint replacement, known as total joint arthroplasty, is becoming increasingly more routine, and an increasingly viable option for many patients. Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta physicians across the greater Atlanta area perform partial and total knee replacements. Several of our orthopedic specialists perform total hip replacement, including posterior hip replacement and a new, less invasive technique known as direct anterior total hip arthroplasty.

Total ankle replacement is also an appropriate treatment option for some patients suffering after chronic ankle pain and/or traumatic ankle injury.

Total joint replacement surgery can be a viable option for the upper extremities, too, including the shoulder replacement, reverse total shoulder replacement, elbow replacement, and wrist arthroplasty.
