Donald Fowler, MD, Interview on 3 Point Conversion Radio Discusses Are Sports Injuries Part of the Game
OrthoAtlanta orthopedic surgeon, Donald E. Fowler, III, MD, held a live radio interview on The 3 Point Conversion Sports Lounge video radio show on Saturday, October 6, 2018 with station hosts including Raphael, also known as Mr. Controversy. With the theme, “Are Injuries Part of the Game?” Dr. Fowler, fellowship trained in sports medicine and shoulder surgery, discussed ACL tears, particularly in professional football players. Advancements from initial treatment to rehabilitation get many pro players back on the field faster. The discussion also included the growing use of medial ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, commonly known as Tommy John Surgery, particularly in baseball pitchers. Dr. Fowler offered a caution to younger players, particularly those as young as ages 7 – 9 years old, and those in early teen years, to consider diversifying their sports activities throughout the year rather than staying with one sport all year long.
