ATLANTA, GA, MARCH 16, 2016 -
OrthoAtlanta spine surgeon, Tuan L. Bui, M.D., has been invited to speak at the 12th Soonchunhyang Spine Symposium in Seoul, Korea on March 18, 2016. The international conference held by Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital will be attended by over 250 spine surgeons from around the world. The theme of this year's symposium is "Controversies in Spinal Surgery." Dr. Bui has been invited to present the topic, "Controversy of Sacroiliac Joint Fusion." Dr. Bui will share his expertise and experience with diagnosing and treating sacroiliac dysfunction, and use of sacroiliac fusion surgery.
The sacroiliac joint (SI joint) links the bottom portion of the spine above the tailbone, or sacrum, to the iliac crest which is part of the pelvis. This strong, weight bearing joint on both sides of the pelvis provides shock absorption for the spine. Sacroiliac joint dysfunction is becoming more widely accepted and understood as a source of chronic and debilitating lower back pain. Technological breakthroughs have made sacroiliac joint fusion a successful way to stabilize the sacroiliac joint.
Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Tuan L. Bui is fellowship trained in Surgery of the Spine. His areas of interest include adult degenerative cervical and lumbar spinal pathology and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Dr. Bui is a member of the North American Spine Society (NASS), International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, Cervical Spine Research Society and founder of the Atlanta Spine Society in Atlanta Georgia. Dr. Bui serves patients at OrthoAtlanta Johns Creek and OrthoAtlanta Gwinnett offices in greater Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
