Biography
Dr. Alex Collins is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon who has practiced in the CSRA for almost 20 years with a distinguished career in sports medicine, reconstructive surgery, arthroscopic surgery, general orthopedics, total joint replacement, and fracture treatment. Renowned for his expertise in managing complex conditions such as ACL injuries, rotator cuff repairs, patellar dislocations, shoulder instability and suprascapular reconstructions. Dr. Collins has earned a reputation as the "shoulder expert” and “knee specialist” for his exceptional skills in addressing these issues. His comprehensive approach extends to treating injuries and conditions of the shoulders, knees, elbows, hips, wrists, hands, and ankles, reflecting his broad and deep knowledge in orthopedic care.
Dr. Collins completed his medical training with distinction, acquiring a robust foundation in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. During his fellowship with Wellington Orthopedics and the University of Cincinnati, he gained invaluable experience caring for the Cincinnati Bengals, University of Cincinnati Bearcats, Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, and other professional sports teams in Cincinnati. His dedication to sports medicine extends to our community, where he has served as the team physician for Greenbrier High School, Lynx ECHL hockey, Riverhawks ECHL hockey, Colts Arena Football, and Mavericks Arena Football teams.
Dr. Collins' commitment to excellence in patient care is evident through his extensive experience and proficiency in both surgical and non-surgical treatments. He is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for his patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care tailored to their specific needs. He takes pride in their ability to return to their daily life with a quick recovery time and the best possible outcome. He has treated many patients in the Augusta area and continues growing his relationships.
