Biography
Dr. Rahul K. Goel is a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint replacement. With a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes, Dr. Goel focuses on a range of conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, periprosthetic joint infection, complications from total joint replacement, and fracture care. His expertise extends to various procedures such as total hip replacement, anterior total hip replacement, revision total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, revision total knee replacement, and robotic total joint replacement. Additionally, he treats degenerative knee and hip conditions, including meniscal tears, cartilage damage, labral tears, and offers general orthopedic fracture care.
Dr. Goel's approach to patient care is rooted in his belief that orthopedic surgery can significantly enhance patients' quality of life by relieving pain and restoring function. He understands that each patient is unique, and orthopedic issues do not occur in isolation. Therefore, he takes a comprehensive approach, considering each patient’s medical history, lifestyle, and social support network. Dr. Goel is proficient in advanced technologies and treatments, including robotic total hip and total knee replacement, anterior total hip replacement, and augmented reality navigational systems. He holds certifications in ROSA, MAKO, and CORI robotic systems, underscoring his commitment to utilizing cutting-edge techniques in his practice.
Throughout his career, Dr. Goel has received numerous accolades, including induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha, Excellence in Research Award from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, and several resident research awards from the Georgia Orthopedic Society and Eastern Orthopedic Association. He completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction at Duke, where he was mentored by leading figures in the field, including two past presidents of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the current president of the Hip Society.

Dr. Goel enjoys cooking, hiking, skiing, working out, traveling, and exploring Atlanta’s restaurant scene with his wife, who is a general surgery resident at Emory. Dr. Goel’s dedication to patient care, combined with his extensive training and community involvement, makes him a valuable addition to the OrthoAtlanta team. He is excited to join a group with such an extensive network of dedicated physicians providing excellent orthopedic care and looks forward to contributing to their mission.
